Aux Champs-Elysees

Aux Champs-Élysées

(music: Michael Wilshaw English lyrics: Michael Deighan/French lyrics: Pierre Delanoë)

This song was originally called "Waterloo Road" and was released as the fourth single by the British rock band Jason Crest  in 1968. Initially it enjoyed modest success.

But after it was adapted by American-French singer Joe Dassin in 1969 it became a world wide hit.

This catchy arrangement in a bluesy style has an 8 bars solo for trumpet. Halfway through there is an instrumental tutti and a modulation that brings it

from the key of D to E-flat. Both French and English lyrics are provided.

In the audio demo below we hear the digital big band where the vocal part is performed by an accordion.
