At the Barbiertje

At the Barbiertje (Rob Catlender)

In the mid eighties I started 'Big Ear', my first big band. We rehearsed at the cosy pub 'BarBiertje' in the picturesque Dutch town Hellevoetsluis. The owner, Rob van de Water was the 2nd trumpet player in my band. Together with the 1st tenor saxophonist Jaap Arends we recorded this duet in 1984.

I have dedicated this new arrangement to my two buddies who meant a lot to me personally and for the jazz scene in the Rotterdam region in general.

It features the fluegelhorn and tenorsaxophone. It starts as a ballad, the middle part is in medium swing with solo's for fluegelhorn and tenorsax.

Below we have a version played with computer-samples. Listen with earphones.

Level: intermediate. Price: € 42,=
