Alligator Boogaloo

Alligator Boogaloo (Lou Donaldson)

Jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson needed one more song to fill his Blue Note album 'Alligator Bogaloo' in 1967. Then he wrote this cheerful souljazz blues tune (nowadays written as 'Alligator Boogaloo').

It became one of his most performed tunes.

This arrangement has an intro with tension-building harmon muted trumpets after which the piano sets the groove. In the middle there's a tutti modulating a third up. There is lots of space for soloists.

In the audio below, recorded with computer samples, some solo's are left out.
